Beckley Addresses Role of Higher Ed in ‘Rethinking Poverty’

SHECP Executive Director, Harlan Beckley, spoke at the Chautauqua Institution this summer on “Rethinking Poverty and Inequality: Changing Higher Education.”    Beckley’s talk was part of a series on poverty sponsored by the Department of Religion.  Other speakers included Peter Edelman, Glenn C. Loury, Sister Simone Campbell, John Hope Bryant, and Tavis Smiley. The full length video is featured on  YouTube.

In October and November, Beckley delivered slightly revised versions of this talk at Transylvania University and Ohio University. The final manuscript with citations is available here: https://www.shepherdconsortium.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Rethinking-Poverty-and-Inequality-2014.pdf.
