The Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP) is excited to announce that Georgia Tech is the newest member institution of the consortium. As members, Georgia Teach will participate in year-round programming and collaboration and their students gain access to the SHECP Internship Program and SHECP’s new Policy & Nonprofit Leadership Internship.
Shatakshee Dhonge, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Economics at Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Tech said,” We are delighted to join the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty. The Ivan Allen College at Georgia Tech has been at the forefront in advancing former Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen Jr.’s legacies of transformative urban leadership and socially and ethically conscious action. Our faculty are experts on topics related to poverty, inequality and social justice. Our students are equally passionate about addressing these social challenges. A partnership with SHECP will provide a platform for our faculty and students to collaborate with the SHECP community. We hope this will be a mutually beneficial partnership.” Dr. Dhonge serves as Georgia Tech’s SHECP Council Liaison and is a member of SHECP’s Governing Board.
Tim Diette, SHECP’s Executive Director, added, “SHECP has a long history of working with community partners in Atlanta. We are enthusiastic about this opportunity to deepen our ties in the community and to have the students, staff, and faculty of Georgia Tech contributing to the collective efforts of our consortium.” If you are interested in becoming a member school, contact Tim Diette, SHECP’s Executive Director.
